Hello dear friends! I'm back with another two finished spaces from our Ridgemont Lake House project!
If you're just joining now, over the last month I've been revealing the completed spaces one by one. Here are the links to the rooms I've already showcased:

And now, lets dive into the kid's/guest bedrooms!
The Kids Bedroom Rooms Designs - Our Goals:
There are five kids of varying ages in my clients family, though it would be likely that not all would be at the house at the same time.
That said, we wanted to try to maximize sleeping options, and also keep in mind that these spaces should be able to flex from kid's bedrooms to guest bedrooms fairly easily, so we wanted designs that felt mature, but also not stuffy.
Below you can see the two upstairs bedrooms and the Jack and Jill bathroom that connects the two. Each bedroom has a vanity inside the actual bedroom with the connecting space containing the shower and toilet, which I personally find to be a super functional design.

The wall color in these two rooms was quite dark, and most of my clients inspiration was bright, airy, natural. So, we decided on Greek Villa for all the walls as our base, knowing I would bring in some color and texture with all the furnishings and decor.
Kid's Bedroom #1 Furniture Layout and Design Plan
The first room is slightly smaller than the second, and while we tried to figure out a way to make two beds fit in here, it just didn't make sense. So, we opted for one queen bed, and filled out the rest of the space with functional and cute bedroom furniture.

We swapped out the ceiling fans in both rooms for updated fixtures, and also made sure to utilize a large mirror and wall hooks in both spaces for extra functionality.
For this space, I leaned into a slightly more feminine style with floral prints and a more traditional style rug. We used light natural oak tones, greens, and blues, and utilized some nice textures as well on the textiles.

Kids' Bedroom #2 Furniture Layout and Design Plan
I was especially proud of this second bedroom layout, in which we managed to fit two QUEEN beds, which would share a single central nightstand. Each bed also got a small wall mounted plug-in lamp on the wall side for the instances where potentially two couples were being hosted.

I tried to make the headboard wall feel less asymmetrical with the oddly placed windows, which meant finding the right balance and scale. I found a beautiful framed artwork set that hung off center with the nightstand but centered on the windows, and that really helped lock in that focal wall.

I used one large area rug beneath both beds to help everything feel unified, and went with a soft green tone for the bedding. To give it a slightly more masculine touch, I added grey plaid bolsters on the beds, and I also brought in some interesting modern art on the two side walls.

For this particular room, I created a very simple elevation of the headboard wall to show the clients how the to-scale furniture would lay out on that wall. It was a bit of a wonky space to use this way (though it did NOT turn out wonky!!) so I really wanted to give them confidence that the plan was going to work out great.

Above you can see the artwork we used on the two side walls, the "big cool mirror" (as my handyman affectionately named it) which would hang on the entry wall, and the gorgeous wall hooks from rejuvenation that could be used for towels, robes, or sweatshirts, etc.

Lastly, we added some interesting and functional elements to the shared shower/toilet area. We selected a large shelf that would hang above the toilet for additional towel and toilet paper storage.
We also chose matte black towel bars and robe hooks to make the space super functional for three kids to share, as well as some very fun summery artwork. Our towels were also super fun and brought in the teal motif which was prominent throughout the entire house.
The Bedrooms and Bathroom Revealed!
We start with the single queen bed more feminine space that would mainly be used by the youngest daughter. I love the way the artwork and soft color palette came together in this room - and I was so pleased that my clients daughter was obsessed!!

This gorgeous rug was one of the pieces that took the longest to arrive. It had been on backorder for SO LONG, but gosh, it was so worth waiting for. The color and design is absolutely perfect in this space 🥰

This room was so tricky to lay out because it was quite a tiny footprint. There was really one sapce the bed could live, and because we wanted it to function for guests as well as for the daughter, we wanted to have two nightstands and lamps.
I chose two tall and narrow accent tables vs. a traditional night stand, and used wall mounted lamps to save the surface for phones, books, or water.

I was also so excited about the window seat and mini sitting area situation. I love a cozy little nook, and this was the perfect spot for one.

I can just imagine my clients daughter and her friends perched in this little corner sharing gossip and stories and dreaming about their plans:

The natural wood tone in this tall-boy dresser brought so much warmth to the space. We were working with some quirky existing floors in this space, so we leaned into it and chose a wood that played nicely with one of the tones in the floor.

The shower room didn't require a whole lot, but we did want to make it way more functional for three siblings to share. We added two long towel bars, four wall hooks for towels and robes, etc, and a big colorful work of art on the main wall.

There was no storage in this room before, so we chose a large wall mounted shelf that would hang above the toilet and store things like towels and extra toilet paper.

The second bedroom, as I mentioned, would be used both for the two middle teenage boys, as well as for guests using the lake house. I wanted to walk the line between a space that would feel comfortable stylewise for older boys, but also feel elevated for visiting adults.

I was so happy with the way the balance worked out with the art, windows, and headboard wall. I actually think the asymmetry adds a little interest rather than it being overly symmetrical.

I was obsessed with these beautiful bolster pillows we chose for the boys room. This brought a slight more masculine feel to the space, and brought some darker contrasting color to a mostly light room.

I was also particularly pleased with these little wall mount lamps. They also took forever to arrive and were not overly expensive, so I had my doubts about quality - but they worked out perfectly!

And above you can see a great shot of the "big cool mirror". Whenever I place a floor length mirror, I like to make sure there is plenty of room to step back and see your whole outfit.
So happy with the way these spaces turned out!
