We've been working on this New Build for Two Years!

You heard that right—two years! I met these clients back before they became grandparents and now they have TWO grandbabies 😮 Imagine that!! So, it was an exciting day to be able to install the final furniture elements of their new build.
Throughout the process we worked on finishes (think flooring, paint, countertops, wallpaper), fixtures, hardware, lighting, space planning, and furniture selection, and I even got to try my hand a little exterior material selection, which is totally not my typical wheelhouse, but we worked together and got it done!

Here's a quick not super styled shot of the kitchen (professional photos to come down the road!). I love how rich the island turned out, and the countertop edge detail is *chef's kiss*.
Below is the coffee bar and cafe area where we selected a small scale cafe table with a few chairs. The light in this photo will be lowered down about a foot eventually, but they didn't want it hanging too low before the furniture was in—gotta save folks from the head bonks!

Now for a few more shots of the living room...the fireplace turned out so cool, and we went back and forth on whether to do builtins or freestanding cabinets in this space. In the end, we felt like we had a LOT of builtins and cabinetry throughout the house, so this felt like the right choice. The cabinets bring a little traditional flair to a more modern shell, which I love.

In the far back right of the living area (below) we popped a little reading nook with a velvet arm chair, side table, and lamp. My clients will eventually have window treatments installed in this space too to add some softness and light control.

The overall color palette was fairly muted, though not completely neutral, so we leaned into some simple pattern and lots of texture and variation in the materials we chose—fuzzy arm chairs, leather swivel recliners, a vintage inspired rug, and upholstery on the ottomans and sofa.

I love how all the patterns and texture work together! We really leaned into layering all different wood tones between the chairs, cabinets, floors, ceiling, beams, coffee table/end tables, and island in the kitchen. Don't shy away from mixing wood tones! Just be mindful of how you let them play together.

We also had a really fun time with our rugs in this space. The above is our entryway rug, which is a vintage rug from etsy. Below, we have a new rug with a vintage inspired pattern in the primary bedroom. Also, don't you just love that limewash-wallpaper on the walls and the gorgeous bedding?
Two images below, you'll see a small vintage runner which lives on the landing down to the lower level living and game room.

Last up, we have the lower level kitchen and staircase. Take a look at those gorgeous railing details on the staircase!! And then I absolutely love how the backsplash turned out here—we had actually selected something different, but my client found these and loved it and I am SOLD.

Building a custom home is a LONG process with more decisions than any clients ever realized they'd be making. It's okay to need some support along the way! Find info on how to work together below:
